Athlete at the Clube Naval de Gymnasium Faro takes 5th place in the Youth Sailing World Championships

The event, considered the most important sailing event after the Olympic Games, brought together young people aged up to 19 years old.

João Pontes, athlete of the Clube Naval de Faro, took 5th place in the ILCA 6 class at the Youth Sailing World Championships that took place from the 8th to the 15th of July, in the Netherlands. 

João Pontes was the selected athlete to represent Portugal in the competition.

The event, considered the most important sailing event after the Olympic Games, brought together young people aged up to 19 years.

Ginásio Clube Naval says it is very proud of the classification of its athlete who is coached by Joaquim Coutinho.

«This title is the result of all the effort, commitment and hard work on the part of the athlete, the coach and the entire team, marking another step in the history of sailing in Portugal», he says.
