Guadiana Eurocity Accessibility Week takes place in VRSA

Fam Trip has as guests three influencers linked to the theme of mobility for people with disabilities

Increasing society's awareness of people with disabilities, promoting the training of technicians and promoting the territory as an accessible tourist destination is the objective of the Accessibility Week, which is taking place in the Guadiana Eurocity, for four days, until 23 June .

Throughout this week, training courses are taking place for public service technicians in tourist companies, given by PREDIF - State Platform for Attention to People with Disabilities and by Accessible Portugal, making known different strategies to approach the reception and attention to this type of tourists.

During Accessibility Week there is also a Fam Trip, during which three influencers linked to the theme of mobility for people with disabilities will make known the destiny of the Eurocity. Sonsoles Cano, MasterChef Spain participant and wheelchair user, Anabel Dominguez (I'm not what you see) and Catarina Oliveira (Rare species on wheels) who will learn about different experiences in the municipalities of Ayamonte, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António.

In these days, public and private establishments in the territory will be highlighted that have made an effort to adapt to offer facilities that have managed to be certified as accessible by the most demanding quality criteria.

Two municipal buildings in Vila Real de Santo António, classified as accessible, will also be shown, namely the Municipal Market and the Manta Rota Tourist Office.

The program also includes the presentation of the IWAS World Games 2022, which will take place in Vila Real de Santo António from 23 to 29 November, with Paralympic athletes in athletics, swimming, weightlifting and football for people with cerebral palsy.

The presentation will take place this Tuesday, June 21, at 17:30 pm, at the Pousada de Portugal in Vila Real de Santo António.

The Eurocity of Guadiana is an accessible tourist destination recognized by the Iberian entities of reference in the matter and is included in the Tur4all platform, where the accessibility of public spaces, private services and tourist resources can be consulted.

The accessibility audits of the destination and its establishments were carried out under the Euroguadiana 2020 project, co-financed by the European Union through the Spain-Portugal Cross-border Cooperation Program and the Algarve4all program of the Algarve Tourism Region.
