PCP celebrates 100 years of Saramago's birth with initiatives in Faro and VRSA

Sessions will be held around the work “Viagem a Portugal”

PCP/Algarve will celebrate, throughout this year, the centenary of the birth of José Saramago, Nobel Prize for Literature in 1998. The first initiative will take place on the 17th of June, at 18:00, at the Museum of Faro.

This session will focus on the work “Viagem a Portugal”. They will then continue on the 30th of June, in a new session on the same theme, promoted at the Vicente Campinas Municipal Library, in Vila Real de Santo António.

No case of Faro, the session has the participation of Marco Lopes, director of the Municipal Museum of Faro, Carina Infante do Carmo, university professor, and Vasco Cardoso, member of the Political Commission of the Central Committee of the PCP. In Vila Real de Santo António, José Cruz, writer, and Carina Infante do Carmo will intervene.

The choice of these two Algarve cities and, in particular, the Municipal Museum of Faro, is inseparable from the multiple references to these cities and to that museum in “Trip to Portugal”.
