The Jornadas do Arade take place between the 13th and 15th of May, in the Auditorium of the Museum of Portimão, and aim to raise awareness of and value the Heritage.
In this event, Lagoa, Monchique, Portimão and Silves once again accept the challenge posed by Associação Teia D'Impulsos to «reflect on the present and project the future of Terras do Arade, exploiting its resources in a sustainable way, or was this not a sub-region with its own geographical, economic, social, cultural and ecological identity'.
In the fourth edition, the program is divided into several moments of sharing knowledge and experiences, and includes the presentation of free communications and ideas competition, conferences, round tables, gatherings and a walk.
On the 13th of May, the event reflects the “Challenges for the preservation and sustainable exploitation of this river heritage” of the Arade Basin, with the participation of ICNF and projects Natura Fish Alvor and the WaterWorld.
On the 14th of May, industrial heritage is discussed at the round table “When the workshop becomes a museum”, with the contribution of the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) and the Portimão Museum, Adega do Convento do Paraíso (Silves), Conserveira do Arade (Lagoa) and Casa do Medronho (Monchique).
Then, “What is already being implemented” for the enhancement of the Heritage of the Lands of Arade, with the Regional Directorate for Culture of the Algarve and the four municipalities, is presented. The challenge involves an appreciation that is carried out in a logic of synergies, «in search of integrated solutions, so we will get to know some inter-municipal projects, such as the case of Via Algarviana, the Algarvensis Geopark and the Magallanes Project».
Finally, together with the Algarve Museums Network, a “Mapping of the Intangible Cultural Heritage” of the region will be carried out. The event ends with a special Teia D'Ideias gathering to give the floor to the presidents of the four municipalities (Lagoa, Monchique, Portimão and Silves).
Finally, on the 15th of May, the Associação Teia D'Impulsos invites you to take a tour, throughout the day, through the four municipalities. The departure is scheduled for 08:45 am, by bus, with a first stop at Sítio das Fontes, in Estômbar.
Afterwards, there will be a walk to the Arvad Winery for a wine tasting and snacks. Pass through Silves for an archaeological tour, followed by the trip to Monchique with a picnic.
