Algarve International Piano Festival closes this Friday

With a concert by the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra

The VI Algarve International Piano Festival closes this Friday, May 20, with the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão. 

The orchestra is directed by conductor Adrian Leaper, who, accompanied by soloist João Rosado, will perform the world premiere of the piece “2020 – Concerto for Piano and Orchestra”, by Portuguese composer João Vasco, which will be followed by Symphony N.º 9 “Do New World” by Antonín Dvorák.

““2020” is the result of an order made by maestro Armando Mota for the Algarve International Piano Festival, which every year fulfills the important mission of ordering a work from a Portuguese composer”, says the Municipality of Portimão in a statement.

According to João Vasco, this musical work was composed during the first confinement and conceived on a simple concept: a train journey with a window seat, during which the composer seeks to express the sensations and feelings of those who went through the process resulting from Covid-19. -XNUMX.

Tickets for the concert cost between 15 and 25 euros and are available online. here and at the TEMPO ticket office, open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 13 pm to 00 pm.
