Active cases of Covid-19 had a strong rise in the Algarve in the last week

According to the Civil Protection Commission of the Algarve Region

More new cases in seven days, a large increase in active cases and 12 more deaths, in the Algarve, are the indicators that stand out in the weekly situation of the Civil Protection Commission of the Algarve Region, which has just been released.

Active cases rose to 8185 between the 6th and 12th of May, 1747 more than the previous Friday, a weekly increase well above what had been reported seven days ago.

In the same period, 4386 new cases of the disease were registered in the Algarve region, which also represents an increase in comparative terms.

There were 12 deaths, a high number, if we take into account that in the previous seven days there were two deaths from Covid-19 in the Algarve.

As for recovered, there were 2627.

In hospitals, there are three more people hospitalized (44 in total). In intensive care, the number of patients dropped to one (-1) and there are still no ventilated patients.

At this moment, Municipal Vaccination Centers in Albufeira continue to operate, Faro/Penha, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Olhão, Portimão, Silves and Tavira. In the remaining municipalities (Alcoutim, Aljezur, Castro Marim, Monchique, São Brás de Alportel, Vila do Bispo and Vila Real de Santo António), anti-Covid vaccines are given at Health Centers.

There are also exceptional testing sites, installed by the Municipal Civil Protection Services, in Albufeira, Faro, Lagos, Loulé, Olhão, Portimão, São Brás de Alportel, Silves and Tavira.
