Access Culture brings up to Faro the debate on “Culture and wars”

“Culture and wars” is the subject of yet another Access Culture debate, which will take place at the Municipal Museum of Faro, on April 19rd, at 18 pm.

This debate «intends to be a moment of reflection on the role of cultural organizations in contemporary political matters, having as a starting point the invasion of Ukraine», according to the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.

“How critical are cultural organizations in the face of this type of situation? To what extent is support and solidarity with Ukraine nothing more than a performative manifestation, which only stays on the surface?” are some of the questions that guests and participants are challenged to reflect on.

The moderation is in charge of Andreia Fidalgo, historian and professor at the University of Algarve, and the guests will be Paulo Silva, programmer of Cineteatro Louletano, Salvador Santos, writer and editor of “Sul Sol e Sal”, and Ana Sofia Martins, coordinator of projects, trainer, consultant and responsible for the participation component of the Faro the European Capital of Culture in 2027.

Access Culture is an association that «organizes debates open to professionals in the cultural sector and to all people interested in reflecting together on issues related to accessibility – physical, social and intellectual – and which have an impact on our work and our relationship. with people with different profiles'.

Access Culture debates take place in Faro, Aveiro, Castelo Branco, Covilhã, Évora, Famalicão, Funchal, Lisbon, Ponta Delgada, Porto and Torres Novas.
