Workshop in Faro addresses the Municipal Equality and Conciliation Plans

Initiative aims to recognize, encourage and strengthen the implementation of Municipal Equality and Conciliation Plans at the regional level

The Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) marks this Tuesday, March 8, International Women's Day with a Workshop alluding to Municipal Equality and Conciliation Plans.

In a framework for sharing Good Practices, the Workshop, which will take place in the auditorium of CCDR Algarve, from 15 pm and which will be broadcast online, aims to recognize, encourage and strengthen the implementation of Municipal Equality and Conciliation Plans at the regional level.

"Gender equality means equality of rights, freedoms, opportunities, choices, participation, recognition and appreciation of women and men, in all areas of society and is essential for the process of sustainable and democratic development" , points out CCDR Algarve.

The “key role of Municipalities in the promotion of local public policies for equality, as agents of local development and privileged entities for the implementation of actions and measures that allow territorialization, identification and local ownership of ENIND's objectives – is recognized – National Strategy for Equality and Non-Discrimination – Portugal + Igual and its National Plans, in a logic of networking and cooperation between central administration and local administration, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030», adds.

The Legal Regime for Local Authorities establishes that the City Council is responsible for ensuring the integration of the gender perspective in all areas of the municipality's action, namely through the adoption of Municipal Equality Plans.
