First National Observatory on Aging opened in Alte

Structure will «collect and analyze data relating to the entire life cycle of the population»

The first National Observatory on Aging (ONE) will be inaugurated in Alte, in the municipality of Loulé, on Monday, March 21st, at 15:00, in a session that will be attended by Ana Mendes Godinho, Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, and António Sales, Secretary of State and Health.

The mission of this structure will be “to collect and analyze data relating to the entire life cycle of the population to propose measures that promote active and healthy ageing”, according to the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC), which coordinates this project together with NOVA Medical School of the Nova University of Lisbon and the University of Porto.

The initiative “intends to stimulate collaboration between public, private and civil society institutions for the study of ageing. Several partners and public and private entities are also part of the project».

«With an investment of around one million euros, ONE aims to promote research and knowledge that allow the assessment and development of active and healthy aging, adapting priorities and the type of responses in the areas of health, social action, education and training throughout life, work and cultural and civic participation depending on the territory, the needs and dynamics of the population», added the ABC.
