Fernando Barata, former president of Farense and Immortal, has died

Born in 1937, in Ponte de Sôr, Fernando Barata, in addition to being a businessman, was also known for his connection to the world of football.

Fernando Barata, hotelier and former president of Farense and Immortal de Albufeira, died this Friday, March 4, at the age of 84, a victim of a prolonged illness. 

The information was confirmed by the Barata Hotels business group.

Born in 1937, in Ponte de Sôr, Fernando Barata, in addition to being a businessman, was also known for his connection to the world of football.

During the years in which he was president of Farense from 1981 to 1988, the Algarve team rose twice to the I Liga. In 1982/1983, the team of Faro even became national champion of the II League.

During the presidency of Fernando Barata (1998-2000), Immortal also lived through important years in its history, militating, for example, in the 1999/2000 season, in the II League.

Moreover, both Farense and Immortal have already expressed their condolences for the death of the former leader.
