Câmara de Lagoa says it has already saved 1 million euros on lighting with LED technology

«This is one of those major investments that the Municipality makes, which has little visibility, but which is extremely important», says the Câmara de Lagoa

The Câmara de Lagoa says it has already saved, since 2014, 1 million euros in public lighting, replacing traditional luminaires with LEAD technology.

The municipality explains that the main objective is to “reduce consumption and thus contribute to an increasingly sustainable municipality, economically and environmentally”.

Throughout 2021, Lagoa replaced the traditional luminaires in three areas of the municipality (Parchal Phase II, Parchal Phase III and Lagoa Phase IV), having, with these interventions, covered 26% of the municipality by LED technology.

26% of the municipality of Lagoa is also “equipped with a regulation system that allows the public lighting to dim during the night period, through the reduction of power”, according to the Chamber.

The Municipality of Lagoa is preparing to move forward, during the year 2022, with the requalification of the public lighting network in three more areas of the municipality (Ferragudo Phase III, Estômbar Phase III and Porches Phase III).

«This is one of those big investments that the Municipality makes, which has little visibility, but which is extremely important. Only in a few years will we realize how important this investment was to contribute to an increasingly sustainable planet», considers Luís Encarnação, mayor of Lagoa.
