Portimão Museum promotes a colloquium on the life of Manuel Teixeira Gomes

Initiative will take place on December 10th, the eve of City Day

The auditorium of the Portimão Museum will host, on December 10, the colloquium “Manuel Teixeira Gomes – The politician and the diplomat, the writer and the artist”, with three books related to the most prestigious from Portimão, as part of the commemorations of the City Day, which is marked the following day, 11.

The works begin at 10:00 am, with the intervention of Nuno Júdice, under the theme “Teixeira Gomes reader”, followed by Helena Carvalhão Buescu's presentation “Teixeira Gomes, vagabondage and solidarity”.

At 12:00, there will be a lecture by Fernando António Baptista Pereira “The aesthetic concerns of Manuel Teixeira Gomes in the autumn of his life: from Letters to Columbano to the collection of Chinese and Japanese objects”.

The program will resume in the afternoon, at 14:30 pm, which will be developed with communications by José Alberto Quaresma (“João de Deus and Teixeira Gomes”), by Fernando Rosas (“Teixeira Gomes and the crisis of the First Republic”), by Laurinda Paz ( “Teixeira Gomes and José Relvas – Two diplomats on the loose”) and the coordinator of the colloquium, Luis Filipe Castro Mendes (“Teixeira Gomes Diplomat”), which will be followed, at 17 pm, with a debate and presentation of the conclusions.

The day before, December 9, at 18 pm, the Café Concerto do TEMPO – Municipal Theater of Portimão will stage the presentation of the first two volumes of the complete work of the writer and statesman, coordinated by José Alberto Quaresma and Nuno Júdice, and by “Manuel Teixeira Gomes – Biography”, in the second edition, which will also be released on this date.

The presentation of the works, also included in the Cidade Dia program, has the seal of the National Press, which will be represented at the session by its director, Duarte Azinheira.
