Algarve does not record deaths due to Covid-19 for the first time since 26 November

Admissions rose nationwide

The Algarve does not register new deaths, due to Covid-19, but has more than 360 confirmed cases of the disease, according to the bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) this Sunday, December 12, which has just been released.

Since November 26, the Algarve region has not registered a day without deaths.

With regard to new infections, the number is lower than yesterday, Saturday, when 482 more cases were registered in the region.

Across the country, the DGS reports 3879 new cases, a decrease from yesterday, when the number of new infections rose to 5373.

With regard to deaths, the DGS counted another 13 across the country: 6 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 4 in the Center and 3 in the North.

The number of new recoveries was 1397, which means that the number of active cases has risen significantly (+2469) and is now 68.117 across the country.

The number of hospitalized patients also increased: there are 12 more in Portugal, bringing the total to 964. The number of patients hospitalized in Intensive Care Units also increased to 142 (+1).

The North region was the one that, according to this Sunday's bulletin, contributed the most to the increase in cases nationwide, registering over 1212 infections. It follows Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 1192, the Center (892), the Algarve (360), Madeira (119), the Alentejo (88) and the Azores (16).

The number of contacts under surveillance increased (+784) and are now 89.920.

The risk matrix did not change, continuing with Friday's numbers. The incidence rate at the national level is 457,7 cases of infection by Covid-19 per 100 inhabitants and 462,5, excluding the islands.

The R(t), the transmissibility index, is at 1,11 both nationally and only on the mainland.
