“Mercadinhos na Aldeia” return to Odeleite, Castro Marim, on the morning of the first Sunday of each month, with more producers, music and entertainment, with the next scheduled for this weekend, on 7 November, and the next for 5th of December.
This is a relaunch of the initiative, which will bring in more producers and more musical entertainment, seeking to «impress a greater dynamism that has been a major factor in the attractiveness of this village in the interior of the municipality of Castromarinense», says the municipality.
With a wide variety of local products, from handicrafts to sweets, without forgetting the well-known artisanal goat cheese, the next Mercadinhos will also offer the opportunity to participate in the workshops “Flavors & Knowledge of Odeleite”.
These initiatives were created with the objective of «giving greater dynamism to the interior of the county, valuing the wealth of resources and endogenous products and promoting an immaterial heritage that has been lost, namely in the field of traditions and “knowing how to do”» , explains the municipality of Castro Marim.
The Small Markets in the Village, which take place between 9:30 am and 13:30 pm, are now held next to the Casa de Odeleite. workshops inside, at 10:30 am.
The first, this Sunday, will teach how to make the typical sweets of this time – “Figos Cheios e Estrelas”, something that links with the Casa de Odeleite as it was, in the first decades of the XNUMXth century, «an important trading post where they sold essentially dry fruits, such as carob, almonds and figs, but also olives and cane baskets, from the hills around the village».
Thinking about Christmas, the second workshop, to be held on December 5th, offers the opportunity to learn how to make Christmas sweets, from children to empanadilhas, and many other delicacies.
The “Mercadinhos na Aldeia” are an initiative of the Parish Council of Odeleite and the municipality of Castro Marim, counting the workshops “Sabores & Saberes” with the collaboration of the Social Association of the Parish of Odeleite.
