Portugal played "a great game" against a "great team" and achieved a "very fair victory", said this Tuesday, October 12, Fernando Santos after the 5-0 triumph against Luxembourg, at Estádio Algarve.

At the press conference after the game, the national coach stressed the fact that Portugal had entered the game “very strong”, within what was “predicted”.

“We took advantage of what we had seen of Luxembourg who always tries to go out and plays and has never been a team to kick forward. We knew that and that, if we attacked with quality, after the moment of loss, we could cause a lot of difficulties,” he added.

Even so, Fernando Santos considered that, after the 25th minute, Portugal "began to play in a hurry, wanting to quickly reach the goal, which meant that Luxembourg had some ball".

In the second half, Portugal returned to «going well, creating situations», but «there was also a time when the opposing team believed more».

In general, the coach considered that this was "a very fair victory" because the "players did very well, with the exception of sometimes wanting to do everything very quickly".
