Loule, Faro and Vila do Bispo propose activities for the European Heritage Days

Walking trails, conferences, shows and exhibitions are some of the activities that Loulé, Faro and Vila do Bispo will boost the 2021 European Heritage Days, which will take place from September 24th to October 3rd. The city of Loulé is anticipating the celebrations, with a walk this Saturday, 18.

This year, under the theme “Inclusive and Diversified Heritage”, the European Heritage Days encompass initiatives at local and national level, such as guided tours, artistic shows, exhibitions, lectures or workshops..

Even before the official celebrations begin, LOULE commemorates the anniversary this Saturday, 18 September, with a “Written Walk of the Southwest – Heritage in the Moonlight”.

Starting at 19:00 pm in Corte Pinheiro, Ameixial (Loulé), those interested should apply via email [email protected] or to the contact telephone number 289 400 611.

The initiative is organized in a partnership between the Municipal Museum and the Loulé Council.

Already in FARO, the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, in partnership with Cívis – Association for the deepening of citizenship, will promote the lecture “The fish for Jews and for Christians: readings of a symbol in the light of Greco-Roman culture”, by Paula Barata Dias, professor at the University of Coimbra, part of the cycle of conferences “Amatores – The Ancient World seen by those who love it”.

The lecture, which will take place on September 24, at 18:30 pm, at the Roman Ruins of Milreu, in Estoi, will be free and open to the general public, requiring prior registration via e-mail [email protected].

On the same day, at 19:30 pm, through routes through the Algarve capital, the Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve will create a space of discovery with challenges that will combine Science with Culture and from which memories will result.

The “Routes that count” are being designed to encourage tourists, families and schools to explore Vila Adentro of the city of Faro in a playful and relaxed way.

All participants will be challenged to observe details that awaken to various areas of knowledge and to be creative in carrying out the activities proposed in the route guide. In the end, everyone will have the opportunity to stamp their guide and build a memory of the experience.

This initiative is a co-creation of the Algarve nucleus of the Mathematics Teachers Association and the Algarve Live Science Centre, with the collaboration of the Municipal Museum and support from the City Council. Faro.

On September 25, at 18 pm, the Roman Ruins of Milreu, in Estoi, will once again be the stage for another initiative, but now it is the show “Lábios de Água”, by Vaivém Insuflável – CorpodeHoje Satellite Company.

Designed and artistically directed by the collective Ana Borges, André Rocha, Inês Férin, Jorge Oliveira and Sara Martins, the piece, which starts from an artistic residency of research with the community, tries to explore the connection between people, the ruins of Milreu, the water and the body.

BISHOP'S VILLAGE joins the celebrations of the European Heritage Days 2021 with the show “A Luz dos Sonhos”, taking place on the 24th of September, at 18 pm, at the Fortaleza de Sagres.

With the motto “Discovering dreams of all colors, the navigators of inclusion depart!”, the play has as protagonists disabled people guided by a director, therapists and accompanying technicians.

Organized by APEXA – Association for the Support of Exceptional Persons of the Algarve and the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, within the scope of the DiVaM – Dissemination and Enhancement of Monuments program, the show has limited places, requiring prior booking via email [email protected].

The Fortaleza de Sagres will also receive the young singer and interpreter Junno, as part of the "Concertos ao Entardecer" by ArQuente – Cultural Association. Marta Falcão's solo project presents itself to the Algarve public on September 26, at 18:00.

Also in Vila do Bispo, more precisely close to Raposeira, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe will receive the launch of the project “No Jardim das Dúvidas”, inserted in the IV edition of “Dias d'As Virgens Negras”, on the 25th, from 16:00.

This is "a proposal for the appropriation of outer space, through an imaginary and temporary garden, as a form of integration and inclusion, both of the local community and occasional visitors, in the natural and symbolic heritage of the place", according to the website of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage.

The project brings together an exhibition of artists from various origins and paths and four performances, two of them on the 25th, starring Manuela Caneco and Jennifer Muteteli.

On the last day, there are two more performances, one by Chilean artists Leslie Fernández and Natascha de Cortillas and the other by Carlos Norton.

On the 25th, an exhibition will also be inaugurated, featuring works by Ana Celorico Machado, Bertílio Martins, Gustavo Jesus, Milita Doré, Pedro Leitão, Tiago Batista and Susana Medeiros.

The “Days of As Virgens Negras” of 2021 defines itself “as a tribute through music and plastic arts to the place of the Ermida and to the ancestral cult that was established in it”.

These initiatives are organized by the cultural association “O Corvo ea Raposa”, and registration is required via e-mail [email protected].

The European Heritage Days, an initiative promoted by the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage, aim to highlight the importance of heritage and culture to children and adults.
