The heavy rain that fell in the early morning of this Thursday, the 23rd, is causing floods in the city of Vila Real de Santo António, in the Hortas area, in Monte Gordo and also in Alagoa (Altura), in the neighboring municipality of Castro Marim.

According to the website of the National Civil Protection Authority, since 7:55 am, there have been at least 16 occurrences, all related to “Flood of structures or surfaces due to intense precipitation”, forcing firefighters not to have their hands to measure.

According to Sul Informação found that in the city of VRSA, the most affected areas are located on Rua da Escola Secundária, near the Municipal Market and CTT, where the water is already 30 to 40 centimeters high, and there are even cars and buses that have been immobilized on the road. , due to flooding.

The water also entered basements, garages, stores and houses located on the ground floor, causing dozens of requests for help from firefighters.

There are also many streets cut off, due to accumulated water, in the center of the city, so that access to Vila Real de Santo António is currently very restricted, as the reporter from Sul Informação on site.

The entire Algarve is currently under Orange Warning, due to the forecast of heavy rainfall, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere.
