Instituto Piaget renews Clínica Escola and KinesioLab on Silves Campus

Clinic School now has the valence of Physiotherapy

The Piaget Institute in Silves is investing in the renovation of the facilities of its Clínica Escola and KinesioLab, the research unit dedicated to studies in the area of human movement. The objective is, according to the educational establishment, to «provide both spaces with better functional conditions and new equipment that allow them to respond more effectively to the missions for which they were created».

Created a little over a year ago with the expertise in Osteopathy, the Clínica Escola now also has the expertise in Physiotherapy.

«The service to the public is done by accredited osteopaths and physiotherapists, trained by the Piaget Institute and at affordable prices», emphasizes the college.

Clínica Escola has three main objectives: «providing supervised clinical teaching in a real context, preparing students for future clinical practice; create data collection environments for research in Osteopathy and Physiotherapy, fundamental for the development of the respective professions; and ensure a social mission by providing accessible treatments for the entire community».

In the case of public service, the first consultation at the clinic is free and the following ones cost 10 euros.

The KinesioLab research unit, in turn, is dedicated to scientific research, teaching, provision of specialized technical services and knowledge transfer in the field of sport, whether high-performance or clinical sports, and also in the field of health.

KinesioLab currently includes four laboratories, one on each campus of the Piaget Institute. In addition to Silves, it also has units in Almada, Vila Nova de Gaia and Viseu.

Commitment to research and outreach to the surrounding community are «two essential axes of the mission of the Piaget Institute which has at the Jean Piaget School of Health in Algarve an excellent training offer at the level of degrees (Nursing, Physiotherapy and Osteopathy), post- graduations (Continuing Care Management), higher professional technical courses (Gerontology and Family and Community Service) and advanced training (Course for Osteopaths with Provisional Card)», praises the institute.
