Loulé and Quarteira host exhibitions by Visual Arts students

Both exhibitions are free to enter.

Students from the Visual Arts Degree at the University of Algarve (UAlg) will exhibit, from the 17th of June, in Loulé, and students from the same course, but from the Drª Laura Ayres Group of Schools, will also have an exhibition that will be inaugurated at the the 24th, in Quarteira.

Thus, next Thursday, June 17th, at 18 pm, at the Convento de Santo António, in Loulé, “Glass Roofs” will be inaugurated, the exhibition of finalist students of Visual Arts at UAlg.

For the second year in a row, «these students had to face a huge challenge – the pandemic situation we are going through forced a change in the usual experience of university education», says Câmara de Loulé.

«Compelled to stay in their places of residence for long periods, and to carry out their work there as much as possible, these students felt, acutely, the contradiction between the house as a place of protection, and which, simultaneously, became the manifestation of the insecurity and anxiety in which we all started to live», he adds.

The works that resulted from this year of work will be exhibited in the beautiful building of the Convento de Santo António, adapting to the architecture of the old liturgical space, in an ever stimulating interaction between the history of this place and the contemporaneity of the proposals that will occupy it. At the end of their cycle of studies, these young artists share their creations, concerns and dreams with the community in which the University is located, in a sharing that is the reason for their work.

The exhibition runs until the 3rd of July, with the following opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 am to 16:30 pm.

“O Poder da Arte” is the name of the exhibition of works carried out by the students of Visual Arts of the Drª Laura Ayres Group of Schools and which will be open to the public, until 24th July, at the Praça do Mar Art Gallery, in Quarteira.

«Art is one of the most beautiful sources being the meeting of the human being with its essence. This exhibition reveals the path through art and highlights the learning and skills of students of Visual Arts at the Drª Laura Ayres School Group, as well as transmitting to the community the knowledge and feelings that elevate the soul and well-being of the students. The works on display are an example of the perseverance and talent of the young people of our community», say those responsible for this exhibition.
