South Music Conversations will open conference room at the 1st 5-star hotel in Faro

The opening is scheduled for 14:30 pm on the 15th of June

Conversations with Dino d'Santiago, Júlio Resende, Inês Meneses, Vítor Belenciano and Miguel Araújo. The conference program from South Music is closed and the initiatives will take place on the 15th and 16th of June, serving to inaugurate the amphitheater of the first 5-star hotel in the Algarve capital: the 3HB Faro.

The opening is scheduled for 14:30 pm on June 15, with a panel of South Music ambassadors: Dino D'Santiago, Júlio Resende, Viviane, Nuno Guerreiro and Zé Eduardo.

This is followed by the panel of publishers, at 16 pm, moderated by journalist Rui Miguel Abreu, in which scenarios are drawn about the future of publishing at a time when paradigms are changing due to the joint effect of the advent of digital and the pandemic as an accelerator, bringing together Paula Homem (MD Sony Music Portugal), João Teixeira (MD Warner Music Portugal), Francisco Vasconcelos (MD Valentim de Carvalho), José Gomes (Lovers & Lollypops) and Nuno Saraiva (AMAEI) in a guest panel that brings publishers into dialogue multinationals and independents.

The third and final conference of the day, the panel “O Papel da Imprensa Musical”, begins at 17:30 pm and is moderated by journalist and radio host Inês Meneses.

Guests Júlio Ferreira (Front Shock), Mário Rui Vieira (Expresso/Blitz), Vítor Belanciano (Público/Ípsilon), Rui Miguel Abreu (Rhymes and Beats) and François Audigier (Europavox) will share reflections on how the music press can gain greater expression in Portugal and contribute to the consolidation of musicians and bands, namely independent projects far from major decision-making centres.

On the second and last day of the Southern Music, June 16, the opening of the conferences is the responsibility of the panel "Copyrights and Related" which begins at 14:30 pm and is moderated by Tozé Brito.

Representatives from GDA (Artist Rights Management) and SPA (Portuguese Authors Society) join Miguel Lourenço Carretas from Audiogest (Association for the Management and Distribution of Rights) and Nuno Rodrigues, from the Portuguese band Glockenwise, and discuss the replacement of traditional forms of revenue by new platforms and content.

At 16:00 pm it is the turn of musicians Miguel Araújo, Nuno Gonçalves (The Gift), Tó Viegas and manager Paulo Ventura to talk on the “Author Edition / DYI” Panel about the progressive separation of artists from publishers and traditional management models. careers (moderator to be announced).

The “Program in Portuguese” panel, moderated by Luís Oliveira (Antena 3), starts at 17:30 pm and ends the two days of conferences, with a conversation between Luís Ferreira (cultural programmer, founder of BONS SONS and director of 23 Miles) Vasco Sacramento (director of Sons em Trânsito and Cine-teatro Capitólio, programmer of Festival F), João Carvalho (director of Vodafone Paredes de Coura festival), Sandra Faria (director of the Production Force and president of APEFE), Ricardo Bramão (Aporfest) and Michael Zolman (Conferomatic), which aims to evaluate the creation of music in Portugal versus the market that exists to host it.

South Music is supported by Europavox, a media platform that promotes the projection of European musical talent across the continent, as well as events and social media. A delegation of Europavox representatives will be present at South Music, accompanied by three journalists from Germany, Greece and Sweden.

The 33 projects selected for the first edition of this festival are already participating in training and workshops in key areas for the development of their artistic path, and will present s to music industry professionals gathered in Faro, on the 15th and 16th of June.

In addition to the musicians, among the hundreds of profiles created on the South Music platform, there are several professionals from 13 municipalities in the Algarve in the categories of author, producer, technician, agent, promoter and booker who will join the visitors.

After the event, South Music will continue as a platform hosting videos, audios, information and contacts of the participating bands, working as a content aggregator and communication vehicle with the music industry.

This festival is an initiative of the Municipality of Faro, Theater of Figures and Faro2027, relevant in the application process of Faro aa European Capital of Culture 2027, which has sought to empower cultural agents.

In the specific context of South Music, in addition to the central objectives of the initiative, the Faro2027 will present the South Music Generation Cápsula initiative, which seeks to reach young creatives aged 14 to 18, through a curation process that will allow the launching of a new generation of musicians from Faro and from the Algarve, curated by Filipe Cabeçadas and Ana Tereza.

South Music has as partners APEFE, SPA, GDA, Audiogest, AMAEI, Aporfest, AEAPP – Associação Espectáculo, ARCM and IPDJ.
