Since last December 2, in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, "no medical appointments are scheduled", denounced Luís Miguel Paixão, president of the Parish Council of Sagres.

The mayor explains that "this situation is due to a malfunction in the computer system, which makes it impossible to schedule new appointments and cancel appointments already scheduled, because the doctor does not have access to the patient's history."

In other words, for more than 50 days, in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, «only consultations for the day, renewals of sick leave and prescriptions have been carried out».

In a statement sent to the newsrooms, Luís Miguel Paixão adds that "this is not the first time this anomaly has occurred", since "in November 2019 there was also an identical or similar malfunction".

To try to clarify the situation, the Parish Council of Sagres, on 7 January, sent an email to the executive director of ACES Barlavento, Leonor Bota, asking when the resolution of the malfunction in the computer system should be done.

That person in charge, according to the local authority, replied that "a piece was needed that had to come from abroad, but that had already been ordered." Only, two weeks later, "so far everything remains the same".

Luís Miguel Paixão also asks if "the lack of a computer system will affect the vaccination against COVID-19 in the municipality of Vila do Bispo."

The Parish Council of Sagres ends, expressing "its solidarity with the professionals of the Health Center of Vila do Bispo who have to face the population due to a problem that is not their responsibility and that has been dragging on for too long" .

O Sul Informação it has already asked the Algarve Regional Health Administration for clarification on this situation, but so far there has been no response.
