There are 450 active cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve, according to data from the Regional Health Authority, which have just been released by the District Civil Protection Commission.

This total number of active cases results from the increase in the number of new infections confirmed in the region in the last 24 hours (another 48, according to the Regional Health Authority), which was not offset by the increase in recovered cases of patients (another 22).

In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, the Algarve has recorded 1510 confirmed Covid-19 infections, and there have also been 83.417 unconfirmed cases. So far, 1039 people have been recovered.

There are currently 11 people admitted to hospitals in the Algarve, 4 of them in Intensive Care.

The number of contacts under active surveillance reaches 1189.

In the Algarve, 21 people infected by the new coronavirus have died since March, but in the last week there has been no death.

The Regional Health Authority does not reveal, in these data released by the Civil Protection, how the 48 new cases are distributed across the 16 Algarve municipalities. O Sul Informação is trying to collect these numbers to update the interactive map, always available on our website.
