Bela Vista Stadium hosts the finals of the National Athletics Club Championship

Benfica's House of Faro will compete for the first time in history in the 1st Division

This Saturday, August 15th, the Bela Vista Municipal Stadium, in Lagoa, hosts the final of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Divisions of the National Athletics Club Championship.

To be held without a public, this competition involves four teams from the Algarve. In the 1st National Division they will compete for the first time in the history of Casa do Benfica de Faro, male athletes.

In the 2nd Division, the same club registers Female athletes. In the 3rd Division, the men of the home team, the Academic Association of Belavista, the Areias de São João Sports (Men) and the Quarteira Sports Center (Women) run.

As explained by the Câmara de Lagoa, «the limitations imposed by Covid-19 imply that the holding of athletic competitions must comply with a set of specific rules that combine the guidelines of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) and the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth ( IPDJ) for the use of sports venues and carrying out sports practice».

With this objective, «to minimize travel, accommodation and meals needs outside the place of residence of athletes, coaches, managers, judges and support staff, the National Club Championships 2020 will be held simultaneously in several places in the country» .

With an extensive program and schedule of two days divided into the morning and afternoon – from 9:00 am to 21:00 pm – this sporting event was divided by Lagoa (teams from the Algarve), Guimarães, Vagos, Lisbon, Ribeira Brava and Ponta Delgada.

The organization is from the Algarve Athletics Association with the support of the Lagoa City Council.
