General Directorate of Health publishes guidance for leisure, physical activity and sport spaces

The number of participants in group classes should be reduced

The General Directorate of Health (DGS) published this Friday an orientation with the procedures for Prevention and Control for Leisure, Physical Activity and Sport and Other Sports Facilities.

Among the general measures recommended, it is intended that these spaces ensure that all people who work and attend them are aware of compliance with the rules of respiratory etiquette, correct hand washing, as well as other hygiene and environmental control measures .

The implementation of a contingency plan for COVID-19 must be ensured and the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary for employees must be guaranteed.

The placement of dispensing alcohol-based antiseptic solution (SABA) or alcohol-based solution must be guaranteed at receptions, entrances and exits in bathrooms, rooms or spaces for physical activity or leisure.

Regarding the organization of the space, physical distance measures must be complied with, namely the distance of at least two meters between people in the context of not performing physical exercise (reception, circulation spaces, etc.), or three meters between people during the practice of physical exercise.

Classes and practices should preferably be booked online.

The use of masks is mandatory for employees, except during classes that involve physical exercise. Users, on the other hand, must use it when entering and exiting the premises, with no use during physical exercise.

In spaces and equipment for physical exercise and massage, in addition to the disinfection of hands at the entrance and exit of the space, the accesses must be controlled to avoid crowds, recommending the marking of spaces and places (for example, on the floor ) to ensure distance.

As for group classes, the number of participants should be reduced in order to ensure a physical distance of at least 3 meters between practitioners, taking into account the disposition and movements of people throughout the sessions.

It is recommended not to resume group sessions dedicated to pregnant women, the elderly, or people with chronic illnesses, due to the increased risk that these populations seem to present.

Between sessions, spaces must be ventilated for at least 20 minutes, as well as cleaning and sanitizing spaces and equipment used between sessions.

In the case of swimming pools, among other procedures, cleaning and disinfection must be carried out, replacing the water and proceeding to chlorination (or other type of chemical disinfection). Water should be tested regularly and users should sanitize their hands upon entry.

The training sessions that take place outdoors must favor spaces with little movement of people and ensure a physical distance of at least 3 meters between practitioners.
