Literacy Summit discusses misinformation and fake news in times of pandemic

This initiative takes place within the scope of the Media Veritas project of the Portuguese Press Association

The Literacy Summit, which will take place online, in webinar format, takes place this Friday, May 15th, and will discuss “Disinformation, Journalistic Manipulation and Fake News in times of pandemic”.

The initiative, which takes place within the scope of the Media Veritas project of the Portuguese Press Association, starts at 10:00 am, with the right to a message from the President of the Republic.

The first panel will include Paulo Pena, journalist specializing in themes related to disinformation and fake-news, Gustavo Cardoso, researcher at Media Lab ISCTE and president of the Communication Observatory (OBERCOM), and Helena Martins, public policy manager from Google.

Nuno Artur Silva, Secretary of State for Cinema, Audiovisual and Media, will also participate.

In the afternoon, from 15 pm onwards, the main topic under analysis will be “The fight against misinformation in regional circles and in the educational and senior community”.

Participating in the discussion will be Pedro Jerónimo, researcher at Re/media.Lab – Laboratory and Incubator of Regional Media (University of Beira Interior), with executive coordination functions, Mauro Figueiredo, from Milage Learning+ project, from the University of Algarve, Paula Sofia Luz, from the Journalists Union, and Alexandre Nilo Fonseca, from the Movement for Active Digital Use (MUDA).
