Ana Cabecinha and João Vieira compete in the National Marching Championship in Olhão

The National Athletic March Championship takes place on March 14, at Avenida da República, in Olhão, with the participation of names such as João Vieira (Sporting) and Ana Cabecinha (Clube Oriental de Pechão). 

On the track that will become Avenida da República, in the center of the city of Olhão, will march, among others, the vice champion of the 50 km world João Vieira (Sporting), the world champion of 50 km Inês Henriques (Rio Maior) , Ana Cabecinha (Clube Oriental de Pechão), Miguel Carvalho, Pedro Isidro and Mara Ribeiro (Benfica), Kristina Saltanovic (Lithuania) Vera Santos (Sporting), all of them Olympic athletes.

On the track that will become Avenida da República, will march, among others, the Algarve, who is vice world champion of 50 kilometers, João Vieira (Sporting), the world champion of 50 kilometers Inês Henriques (Rio Maior), Ana Cabecinha (Clube Oriental de Pechão), Miguel Carvalho, Pedro Isidro and Mara Ribeiro (Benfica), Kristina Saltanovic (Lithuania) Vera Santos (Sporting), all of them Olympic athletes.

Other prominent marchers, such as those representing the National Team, Edna Barros and Maria Bernardo (Clube Oriental de Pechão) or Carolina Costa (Sporting) will also be present in the competition being disputed in the Cubist city, as well as numerous athletes from all over the country and from neighboring Spain.

The competition will start at 14:45 pm on Saturday, March 14, with departure and arrival at Avenida da República, with the athletes from Benjamin being the first to participate in the challenge from Olhano, followed by children, youth and juniors. The Women's and Men's 20 km races start at 16:00 and 16:30, respectively.

In parallel, will take place the V Trophy Jorge Costa, from Olhano who was an Olympic athlete in Athens 2004.

The competition, organized by the Portuguese Athletics Federation, Algarve Athletics Association, Quelfes Parish and Pechão Oriental Club, has the support of the Municipality of Olhão, Pechão Parish Council, Olhão Parish Council and Portuguese Sports Institute and Youth.
