The second edition of the walking festival “Barão de São João – Walk & Art Fest”, which took place from 1 to 3 November in this town in the municipality of Lagos, was a success, with 22 sold out activities.
The initiative had a diversified program, consisting of 63 activities, divided into walks, workshops, wellness activities, socializing and environmental education.
The organization could not be more satisfied with the results obtained, as 22 activities were sold out, «which demonstrates the quality and diversity of the program and that this Festival is already on the agenda of lovers of hiking and nature activities».
This second edition had about 1000 registrations from 670 participants, which shows an increase compared to last year.
The wellness activities (Yoga, Tai-Chi, Qi Gong – Chi Kung, Meditation) and the workshops and tours organized by the partner artists of the event had a huge demand from the participants.
The main attraction of the Festival was once again the artistic installation, comprising 29 pieces by local artists, nine of which were designed especially for the Festival, and this year the pieces were exhibited inside the village and in the Mata de Barão de São João.
A brochure was designed to encourage all participants to visit the installation made up of quality pieces and extreme creativity.
For Hugo Pereira, mayor of Lagos, «this is a winning event, which has served to make known not only the beauty of the village of Barão de São João, but also the charm of the Mata de Barão de São João and the potential that the municipality of Lagos presents for the practice of hiking».
In the opinion of Anabela Santos, vice-president of Associação Almargem, «the success of the event is due to the network of partners with knowledge in various areas that have accepted the challenge of stimulating activities, to the Cultural Center of Barão de São João, which hosts the event in its installations and obviously to the partner local artists, who idealize not only activities but unique pieces».
«Without this perfect combination, the Festival would not have the same charm. This Festival could only take place in this unique and unparalleled village», he adds.
The next edition has already been scheduled: it will be from the 6th to the 8th of November, once again at the Cultural Center of Barão de São João.
The organization promises "to present many new features and surprises, to retain the participants of these two editions, but also to attract more people."
