The Government, led by António Costa, took office this Saturday, 26 October, at a ceremony held at Palácio da Ajuda, in Lisbon. The Algarve is represented with a minister and three secretaries of state.

In total, excluding António Costa – who is prime minister -, 19 ministers and 50 secretaries of State took office.

in these the last ones include the algarvians Jamila Madeira, Assistant Secretary of State for Health, Jorge Botelho, Secretary of State for Decentralization and Local Administration, and José Apolinário, Secretary of State for Health.

For the rest, an Algarvian member is part of the ministerial list, albeit with much more remote links to the region. This is Mário Centeno, Minister of Finance.

After the ceremony in Ajuda, which featured speeches by António Costa and Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Republic, the Government met in the Council of Ministers, where it approved the Government and Organic Law program.

Yesterday, October 25, work began in the Assembly of the Republic, with the swearing in of new deputies.

With a new Parliament and a new Government, the Legislature will truly begin.
