Contemporary Angolan dance takes the stage at Lethes

Angola Contemporary Dance Company comes to Faro present "The monster is on the scene"

The Academy of the Contemporary Dance Company of Angola will take the stage at Teatro Lethes, in Faro, to present the play “The monster is on the scene”, on Saturday and Sunday, the 12th and 13th, at 21 pm and 30 pm.

This is a show that «invites reflection on the human being as the protagonist of a world where violence, individualism and intolerance grow», according to ACTA – A Companhia de Teatro do Algarve, the entity responsible for programming Lethes.

«The new capitalist models based on consumerism and on conflicts between different ethnic, religious or political groups, promote the emergence of new “walls” and resignation in the face of asymmetries between luxury and misery. Gender issues and the inferiority condition imposed on women are also the target of this uncomfortable introspection on the human condition», they add.

On stage will be dancers António Sande, Armando Mavo, Benjamim Curti, Daniel Curti and Samuel (adults) and Gabriel Neto, Leandro Lopes, Maria Ribeiro, Rita Fonseca and Tchissole Brito (children). The play will also feature the special participation of Catarino Rodrigues.

“The monster is on stage” is choreographed by Ana Clara Guerra Marques and Nuno Guimarães. The original music is by Inês Vieira (Violin and voice).

Tickets for the shows cost 10 euros for the general public and 7,5 euros for those under 30 and over 65. Dance students/students pay only 5 euros, as long as they present proof or are accompanied by a teacher.
