The Municipality of Portimão will award 30 scholarships of 1500 euros to young people from the municipality who attend Higher Education.
Those interested in receiving this support must apply between the 24th and 30th of October, through the Education Division of the Municipality of Portimão, which operates from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 14:00 pm to 16:30 pm.
The Municipal Regulations for Attributing Scholarships to Higher Education Students, the registration forms and the list of documents necessary for the application of the application are already available at Balcão Único Municipal and at municipality website.
Last year, the Portimão Council resumed the practice of awarding scholarships to university students “after a period of interruption that dates back to 2010/2011, due to the municipality's financial difficulties”.
In 2018/19, 15 scholarships were awarded. This academic year, the number of supports to be awarded doubles.
"This measure is directly related to the policy of promoting and developing equal opportunities in access to Higher Education by the Municipality of Portimão, aiming to contribute to the pursuit of studies by students with lower economic resources and good academic performance, who reside in the area of the county”, according to the City Council of Portimão.
