The Chamber of Faro signed the contract for the elaboration of the project for a pedestrian and cycling route between the Algarve capital and Olhão, in what is another step towards the construction of the coastal ecovia between the two municipalities.
The elaboration of the “Coastal ecovia project in the connection Faro-Olhão” was contracted for around 33 thousand euros to the company Loff – Landscape Office and “has as its object the definition of the route of the ecovia in order to establish the connection between the Bom João area and the neighboring municipality of Olhão, having to be included the crossing of the water lines is also part of the proposal”, according to the Chamber of Faro.
"The objective of this intervention is to generalize the use of the bicycle and other gentle modes in the daily life of our residents and those who visit us, transforming them into a means of transport and not just a vehicle for leisure or sport", summarized the municipality .
The design of the project should be completed within six months.
