Loulé promotes heritage education activities in schools again

Another edition of the “Visita Brincando” program

Throughout this school year, the Municipal Museum of Loulé will promote heritage education activities in schools. 

This year, the big news of the “Visita Brincando” program will be the integration of initiatives promoted within the scope of the candidate's candidacy Algarvensis Geopark Loulé-Silves-Albufeira the UNESCO World Geopark.

With this project, that the Sul Informação It has already made known, the municipality intends to promote the sustainable development of the territory based on the communities and their quality and way of life, as well as the geological wealth, making Loulé a sustainable and potentially tourist destination of world interest, through its geological heritage .

The Museum of Loulé offers non-formal education activities in its spaces, with «unique experiences and knowledge that will lead to the discovery of Loulé people of other times, their ways of life and the heritage they have bequeathed», says the City Council.

Regarding the “Visita Brincando” program, activities will take place in the Historic Area of ​​Loulé, at the Museum's headquarters and at the Traditional Cuisine, Dried Fruit and Salir poles.

“In Search of the Past”, “The Time Capsule”, “Who Tells a Tale…”, “The Legend of the Almond Trees”, “The Algarvian Orchard”, “There are games everywhere!”, “Change the people… Are we really so different?”, “An adventure in the Historic Center” and “The Museum goes to school” are the playful-pedagogical proposals of this program, adapted to different age groups and years of schooling.

Regarding the aspiring Geopark Algarvensis Loulé-Silves-Albufeira to UNESCO World Geopark, the actions promoted throughout the year will mainly involve field trips but also activities in the classroom (and abroad), with a theoretical and practical component.

The initiatives are: “Alte and its charms”, “Macroinvertebrates the small important beings of the streams”, “An adventure in the village of Pena”, “Come and discover the birds at Fonte da Benémola”, “Hunting rocks and fossils in Silves”, “Heritage detectives only for half an hour”, “Peddy paper from the Castle – The stones tell a story”, “Sítio da Ribeira de Quarteira – cultural and environmental tour”, “The great leap of the frog”, “A leap to the past”, “Paleogincana”, “I am the metoposaurus. And you, what's your name?”, “Paleontologando”, “Rocha… Tell us your story”, “Adobes and mud – the geology of our ancestral houses” and “Pigments of the earth – painting with stones”.

As has been the practice in previous years, the technicians of the Museum of Loulé are also «available to program educational activities together with the school community, in order to meet the needs felt by teachers and, above all, to transform the heritage. a partner for students' learning and cultural development'.

For those who cannot travel, the Museum goes to school, thus bringing heritage education to educational establishments and providing moments of learning in the context of the classroom.

With more than a decade of existence, “Visita Brincando” has been renewed year after year, “being an important vehicle to awaken, from an early age, the interest of younger generations in heritage issues and in the deepening of local history and of Loulé's identity», says the municipality.
