Singer Susana Travassos presents this Saturday, August 17th, at 21 pm, in the Grande Auditório do TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão, a concert in honor of Mercedes Sosa, one of the greatest artists in Latin America, who left us 30 years ago.

Driven by her singing and by the figure who gave voice to great human causes that cut across all peoples, Susana Travassos and the other musicians who are part of this project, bring together in this show the main hits of the Argentine diva, as well as other important songs from the Latin songbook. Susana Travassos started singing the Mercedes Sosa repertoire in 2015, at the invitation of Brazilian guitarist Gabriel Godoy. Together they made the first version of the concert that will be presented at TEMPO this Saturday. Since then, the artist has integrated songs from Mercedes Sosa's repertoire in her own concerts throughout Latin America.

In June of this year, Susana was the Portuguese singer invited to sing Mercedes Sosa during the closing gala of EXIB Musica (event dedicated to Iberoamerican Music), in Setúbal.

Susana Travassos was born in Faro and lived until the age of 18 in Vila Real de Santo António, where his musical journey began early.

At the age of five, he began playing accordion and later began to study piano and opera singing. He attended the Hot Club Jazz School in Lisbon. Owner of a clear and precise voice, she has an unusual interpretive intensity.

In 2008, he released his first CD, Hi Elis, in honor of the singer Elis Regina. Your second album, Tagus-Tietê (2013), is a partnership with the Brazilian composer Chico Saraiva and intersperses his own compositions with classics from Portugal and Brazil.

In recent years, Susana has conquered a prestigious space in Latin America, where she already has an attentive audience, and is also followed by the press.

During the period he lived in Brazil, he worked alongside artists such as Yamandu Costa, Toninho Horta, Chico Pinheiro, Chico Cesar, Zeca Baleiro, among others.

In 2019, he released his third CD, bird word, composed of her own songs, as well as new songs by Luísa Sobral, Mili Vizcaíno and Melody Gardot.

The album, which was recorded in Buenos Aires, under the direction of Alan Plachta, has the participation of the greatest Argentine instrumentalists of today, such as Diego Schissi, Tiki Cantero, Nacho Amil, among others.

It is a work that represents her artistic maturity and certainly places Susana Travassos among the main Portuguese singers of her generation.
