Portugal wins European Footvolley round in Albufeira

Portugal won the 3rd stage of the European Footvolley Championship, disputed from the 12th to the 14th of July, at Praia dos Pescadores, in Albufeira. 

For three days, Albufeira was the stage for the 3rd stage of the “European Footvolley League 2019”, a competition that brought to the council 22 teams from 13 countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Netherlands, England, Israel, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland.

With the stands on fire, the Portuguese duo Filipe Santos and Miguel Pinheiro were at a great level, beating Germany and conquering the first place in the table. Austria was ranked third after defeating Italy. In women, the victory went to Norway through the athletes Henriette Ingvaldsen and Pernille Ingvaldsen Smith. In second place was Italy and the third position on the podium was occupied by Germany.

«During the three days of competition, a large audience was present at the stadium built in the heart of Praia dos Pescadores, in Albufeira, enjoying a great sporting spectacle, being part of this great party full of moments of spectacularity and great emotion, in constant animation». highlighted the National Football Federation, which organized the event together with the European Footvolley League and with the support of the Municipality of Albufeira.

The Mayor of the City Council highlighted the importance of the event for the promotion of Albufeira as an excellent destination for the practice of the sport:

"We have all the conditions to host events of this nature, from the weather, the beaches and even the public, as we can see from the turnout for the competition," stated José Carlos Rolo.

The European Footvolley League Tour 2019 ends in August, with a stage from 23 to 25, in Switzerland.
