Belgian Hells Angels man arrested in Algarve

Belgian will be placed in preventive detention

A Belgian, member of the Hells Angels organization, was arrested this Monday, June 24, in the Algarve, and will be placed in preventive detention.

In question, according to the Judiciary Police, there are facts likely to include crimes of criminal association, aggravated homicide, in the attempted form, theft, serious and qualified offenses to physical integrity and the possession of prohibited weapons.

This Hells Angels case has 89 defendants, 43 of which are subject to detention measures.

The inquiry takes place at the Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DCIAP) and the Public Ministry is assisted by the National Counter-Terrorism Unit of the Judiciary Police.

In May, a mega operation of the PJ, across the country, detained 17 Hells Angels.

In January of this year, two men, members of this organized crime group, had been detained in the Algarve.

At the last Motard rally of Faro, in July 2018, there were suspicions that the event could serve to reckoning between groups biker rivals Hells Angels and Los Bandidos, both strongly associated with organized crime and which already have a large presence in Europe.

That didn't happen, but there was, however, a major GNR operation to avoid clashes.
