Two “Hells Angels” held by the PJ in the Algarve

Hells Angels are a motorcycle group suspected of committing various crimes

Two men, of Portuguese nationality, were arrested this Wednesday, January 30, in the Algarve, for being associated with the organization “Hells Angels”. 

According to a statement from the Judiciary Police, "in question, there are facts likely to include the practice of the following crimes: criminal association, aggravated homicide, in attempted form, robbery, serious offenses to physical integrity, qualified offenses to physical integrity and possession of prohibited weapons" .

The detainees were presented at the Criminal Instruction Court of Lisbon, and the following coercive measures were applied, by accumulation: duty of periodic presentations at the police station in the area of ​​residence, prohibition of absence abroad and of contacts with co-accused, as well how to participate in events biker and exercising the profession of private security.

The inquiry takes place at the Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DCIAP) and the Public Ministry is assisted by the National Counter-Terrorism Unit of the Judiciary Police.

The investigation is under secrecy.

At the last Motard rally of Faro, in July 2018, there were suspicions that the event could serve to reckoning between groups biker rivals Hells Angels and Los Bandidos, both strongly associated with organized crime and which already have a large presence in Europe.

That didn't happen, but there was, however, a major GNR operation to avoid clashes.
