Candidates for the Escola Amiga da Criança seal are sought

In the 1st edition of the event, nine schools in the Algarve were awarded the seal

The communities of schools in the Algarve can apply for the Escola Amiga da Criança seal and for a prize of five thousand euros in books from the publisher LeYa until the 5th of April.

Registration for the second edition of this initiative by the National Confederation of Parent Associations (CONFAP), LeYa and psychologist Eduardo Sá can be done online and are open to school boards, teachers, parents and students.

This seal aims to distinguish “schools that conceive and implement extraordinary ideas for a happier development of children in the school environment”, according to the promoters of the initiative.

The “Child Friendly School” recognizes, shares and encourages educational projects in the following categories: Food, health and environment; Citizenship and/or inclusion; Digital; Family/community involvement; School spaces; Safety; and Extracurricular and/or interdisciplinary activities.

The winning proposal wins 500 euros in LeYa books, while the best projects in each category win XNUMX euros, also in books from this publisher, to equip school libraries. A seal is also given to all schools whose ideas are distinguished.

In the first edition of the event, which took place in the 2017/18 school year, nine schools in the Algarve were distinguished, namely: Basic School (EB) of Monte Gordo and EB D. José I (VRSA), EB 1/JI Horta do Carmo (Tavira), EBI/JI de Aljezur, EB 2,3 Rio Arade Parchal, EB Prof. João Cónime EB Rio Arade (Lagoa), Vilamoura International College (Loulé) and Silves Secondary School.
