The new headquarters of the Group of Scouts nº6 in Olhão will be officially inaugurated on Saturday, January 23, at 10:00 am.
The new space, located at Rua Gil Eanes, was lent by the City Council of Olhão, "under a lease for life, and with financial support for the works", according to the mayor of the municipality António Pina.
The municipality of Olhão bought the property for 115 thousand euros and awarded a subsidy of 5 thousand euros to the Scouts of Olhão to upgrade the space.
The Council's decision to acquire this space, to transfer it to the Scouts of Olhão, resulted from the «difficulties expressed to the local authority by those responsible for the former property that, in addition to a clear degradation, it no longer had the capacity to house the activities and the number of elements of Group 6”, according to the municipality.
This was, added António Pina, "an old dream that began to come true with the transfer of the property by the City Council of Olhão" and which materialized with the signing of the lending contract, in January 2018, on the occasion of the celebration of the 93rd anniversary of the Group 6 of Scouts.
