Workers at the Civil Registry of Lagos protest against the lack of conditions

Vigil runs from 8 am to 9 am in the morning, so as not to harm users

The workers of the Civil Registry Office of Lagos will demonstrate this Monday, January 28, against "the lack of working conditions to which they are subject, with clear harm to users."

The demonstration, which takes place in front of the Lagos Conservatory (Rua Francisco Xavier Ataíde de Oliveira 33F, Lagos), starts at 8 am and ends at 9 am, so as not to impair the service provided to citizens.

It intends to denounce the decisions of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Registries and Notaries and of the Ministry of Justice, which maintain, according to the workers, their "awful working conditions".

The employees of the Lagos Conservatory complain about the «lack of workers, which affects the quality and speed of service, with serious damage to the citizens of the municipality of Lagos in particular», of the «lack of privacy in the service to users». the «totally obsolete equipment (computers and printers over 15 years old), the «mismanagement of public money, given the lack of conditions of the property where the Registry is located and the exorbitant value of the lease» and also the «facilities, which they do not respect the most elementary rules of safety and health, whether for workers or users who go there».

Therefore, according to the Union of Registry and Notary Workers, this vigil has as its primary objective to demand that the citizens of Lagos receive the treatment they deserve, that is, «sufficient human resources, in order to be able to meet the real needs of the population” and “a Conservatory with decent conditions for its attendance, namely with regard to privacy and health and safety conditions”.
