The 154th anniversary of Tomás Cabreira's birth will be celebrated with an initiative at the Portimão Museum, on Sunday, January 27, where the reflection on the legacy left by this illustrious Algarvean will be held, but also with a visit to Alcalar.

The session, which will be organized by the Associação Cívica Tomaz Cabreira, in partnership with the museum and with the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, aims to honor an «Algarvian committed to the interests of his region», in the city where he promoted the 1st Algarve Congress, in September 1915.

The event's program, open to the general public, begins with a visit to the Megalithic Monuments of Alcalar, at 10:30 am. This is followed, at 11:45 am, by a tour of the Portimão Museum.

From 15 pm onwards, this museum space will host a gathering under the theme “The past, present and future of the region, 00 years after the 100st Algarve Congress”, which will have guest speakers José Bívar, André Gomes and João Marques.
