Trompa debuts at the Algarve Organ Festival and in double dose

This will be the first time that the sound of the organ will be harmonized with that of the French horn, in 11 years of the Algarve Organ Festival

Edgar Barbosa

A "peculiar combination" between organ and horn, played respectively by Daniel Nunes and Edgar Barbosa, will mark the next concerts of the Algarve Organ Festival, which will take place on Friday and Saturday, 9th and 10th November, in the Igreja Matriz in Portimão and in the Igreja do Carmo, in Faro, at 21 pm. This will be the first time, in 30 years of the festival, that the horn is joined to that of the organ.

In the concerts they will star in, Daniel Nunes and Edgar Barbosa will interpret "works by various composers that span the XNUMXth to XNUMXth centuries", from Manuel Rodrigues Coelho to Camille Saint-Saens, according to Associação Música XXI, which organizes the festival (see full program below).

Daniel Nunes began studying organ at the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa and attended a degree in Organ at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. In 2012 he went to the Netherlands to continue his studies. He is currently attending a master's degree in performance with professors Pieter van Dijk and Mathias Havinga, having as guest professor Louis Robilliard. Both in Portugal and in the Netherlands, he has participated in several projects, competitions and concerts.

Edgar Barbosa began his musical studies at Associação Filarmónica União Lapense. He entered the Superior National Academy of Orchestra, where he finished his degree with horn players Abel Pereira and Nuno Vaz.
