Sul Informação wins SAPO Award for best regional information organ

Award "recognizes the work of a great team"

O Sul Informação won the SAPO Media Digital Award for the best regional information organ in 2018. The distinction was awarded this Wednesday, November 21, at a ceremony held at the Coliseu dos Recreios, in Lisbon. 

In addition to the Creativity, Media, Jury and Special Awards, the Digital Media Awards were also awarded during a dinner organized by Altice Portugal.

These aimed to distinguish the best information sites, and respective journalistic productions, for their innovation, as well as pieces that have made the best use of the tools currently available in the digital medium.

In the category for best regional information body, that the Sul Informação won, the newspaper Região de Leiria won an honorable mention.

Elisabete Rodrigues, director of Sul Informação, at the time he received the award, recalled the path of a newspaper “created in 2011 by journalists, at a time of crisis, which demonstrates a lot of courage. After seven years of existence, we continue to do our work with creativity, innovation and journalistic rigor. This award recognizes the work of a great team».

Also in the Digital Media aspect, the report “Com Olhos de Ouvir”, by Antena 1, won the Best Digital Innovation award and “2:59 to explain the world”, by Expresso, won the Best Public Service Work.

In the “Best Multimedia Report” category, the winner was the piece “Sente-se na meu chair” by Público newspaper. As for Jornal de Notícias, it won an Honorable Mention, in the same category, with “Pedrógão Um Ano Além”.

The SAPO Awards also awarded 26 awards to reward the best that is done by companies in terms of digital communication in Portugal.

At this level, the main trophies went to Parterns (Creative Agency of the Year), Wavemaker Portugal (Media Agency of the Year) and Nestlé (Advertiser of the Year). The campaign of the year was, in turn, the “Can't Skip Portugal”, by Turismo de Portugal.

«Over these 18 years, the SAPO Awards have been gaining recognition and respect from the great creative agents and the public, making known the best that is done among creativity agencies, media and advertisers and the permanent adaptation from digital communication to technological and social transformations», said Alexandre Fonseca, CEO of Altice Portugal.

More than 20 professionals from the world of advertising, marketing and communication – including professors from higher education institutions – were part of three different groups of judges who decided the winners of the awards of the SAPO 2018 Awards, with Luís Mergulhão, CEO of Omnicom Media Group, chairing two juries.

Gustavo Cardoso was, in turn, president of the media jury.
