International tournament brings together 250 young footballers in Faro

Real Madrid, Seville, Sporting, Benfica and FC Porto are some of the clubs that will play in the competition

250 young footballers from the under-10 level will compete, starting this Friday, October 5th, in the Faro International Cup, tournament «which is already one of the main ones in Europe».

The competition runs until Sunday, October 7th, at the Penha Sports Complex.

The presentation of the test took place this Monday, October 1st, with the presence of Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, Luís Filipe, former footballer from Sporting, Benfica and Olhanense, and Adelmiro Parreira, coordinator of the Football School of Faro (EFF).

The 2nd edition of the Faro International Cup will feature 16 teams from five countries: Real Madrid, Betis Seville, Atlético Madrid and Seville (Spain), TSV Rosenheim (Germany), Burnley (England), Glasgow Rangers (Scotland), to which the three great Portuguese, Benfica, Porto and Sporting, and the teams from the Football School of Faro, Farense, Generation of Geniuses, AA Santarém, Nacional and FC Ferreiras.

After the 2017 edition, with eight teams (two foreign), the increase in the quality, competitiveness and quantity of teams, managers, young players and their families, in 2018, make this event a sporting but also an economic success for the Municipality of Faro, "moving hundreds of people for several days in the city and in the municipality", said Rogério Bacalhau.

The mayor also said that it is "a pride for the council to have this emblem (EFF) working in the training of young promises and being able to gather so many clubs in this tournament".
