Beach Health Centers performed 5268 consultations in July and August

The vast majority of people served do not reside in the Algarve

The Praia do Algarve Health Posts carried out 5268 consultations in the months of July and August. Among the 31 posts made available along the Algarve coast by the Algarve Regional Health Administration (ARS) and the Portuguese Red Cross, the most popular were those in Armação de Pera, Ilha da Armona and Ilha da Culatra.

Of these visits, 2869 were for treatments and sutures, 782 were due to stings by spiderfish and insects, 899 to blood pressure measurements, 285 to administer injections and 297 to perform blood glucose tests. During this period, 136 referrals to other health units, as revealed by ARS Algarve.

The vast majority of people served, around 72%, do not reside in the Algarve. Of these, 58% live in other regions of the country and 14% are foreigners.

The Praia Health Posts aim to «ensure nursing health care and respond to clinical situations that can be treated on site, also functioning as a point of clarification and screening, and, if necessary, refer the patient to a unit. of more adequate health'.

These units came into operation on June 30th and most of them closed on July 31st. At the moment, and until the 16th of September, only the stations of Praia da Rocha, Armação de Pera, Rocha Baixinha, Quarteira, Ilha da Culatra, Ilha de Tavira and Monte Gordo.
