Tavira and Portimão are two of the cities where the “Passeio da Memória” will be held, on the 28th and 30th of September, respectively, to mark the World Day of Alzheimer's Disease.

In Portimão, the initiative starts at 9:30 am and, in Tavira, at 21:00 pm.

In this year's edition, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of Alzheimer Portugal, the initiative will be present in 66 locations from North to South of Portugal, including the Azores and Madeira archipelagos, starting on 8 September in Torres Novas and ends on September 30th

In some locations, the event will also have a racing or peddy-papper aspect.

Half of the amount raised in each location will revert to the development of actions that, with the support of the municipalities, contribute to increasing knowledge about dementia, namely information actions or training activities to be carried out throughout the year.

«Since 2011, date of the first “Memory Walk”, which took place in Oeiras, this event has grown in dimension and purpose, as it is increasingly important for us as an association to inform and raise awareness, through these actions, for the importance of reducing the risk of developing dementia, for the warning signs of Alzheimer's disease and, above all, for the importance of timely diagnosis», says José Carreira, president of Alzheimer Portugal.

Entries can be made at the initiative website, or in person at the headquarters, delegations or offices of Alzheimer Portugal, as well as on the same day at the location of the action.

Each donation must be a minimum of 5 euros per participant.
