Hospital de Loulé Group installs Telemedicine Post in Culatra

Culatrenses will be able to be treated by doctors from the Clínica Internacional de Olhão without leaving the island

The Hospital de Loulé Group will inaugurate, this Thursday, 19 July, a Telemedicine Post in Culatra, on the day that celebrates the Island Day.

According to the group "from the new Telemedicine Post, the population of Ilha da Culatra will have access to emergency teleconsultations with the doctor who is in the Permanent Care Service of the Clínica Internacional de Olhão."

The admission of users to the new post is carried out by a resident nurse who provides support at the time of the consultation, providing the doctor with indicators of the patient's health status.

When entering the office of the Culatra Telemedicine Post, “the user automatically enters the Permanent Care Service system. The doctor then proceeds to the teleconsultation, through a computer or other mobile device», explains Grupo Hospital de Loulé.

With this pilot project, unprecedented in Portugal, the Hospital de Loulé Group «intends to contribute to alleviating the difficulties that residents in areas far from urban centers face in accessing emergency consultations».
