The Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Algarve (UAlg) will offer, in 2018/2019, for the first time, the postgraduate course in “Design and Rapid Prototyping”.
According to UAlg, «this is a course that will address new techniques in the development of rapid prototyping and digital manufacturing, based on 3D printing. The 2nd application phase is already underway and ends on the 6th of July».
«Design and Rapid Prototyping, applied in 3D printers, have in recent years undergone an exponential growth in various areas of knowledge and business and industrial production, taking into account their importance in the development of new products in a more economical and sustainable. His areas of development are in engineering, architecture, medicine, agriculture, aerospace, among many others».
This new postgraduate course «represents a strong need on the part of companies, as there is currently no similar training in Portuguese Higher Education», says UAlg.
Therefore, this course, «with a very strong theoretical-practical training character, allows uses ranging from product development, with a strong sustainability component, to the formation of innovative companies».
Recipients are graduates, or with higher academic degrees, who work or intend to work in areas related to prototyping and product development through 3D printing, whether in a business or industrial environment, or in primary, secondary, polytechnic or university education.
