Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório, in Silves, will stage the recital “De Camões à Actualidade”, by actor Paulo Moreira, on the 21st of May, at 10:30 am. 

This morning, the actor will recite Portuguese poems, with different themes and styles, following a chronological line, starting in Luís de Camões and covering contemporaries such as Maria do Rosário Pedreira, Nuno Júdice and António Ramos Rosa, António Pereira, Maria Gabriela Martins and Marco Mackaaij .

This recital is organized in conjunction with the Portuguese group from Escola Secundária de Silves, with the aim of introducing students to different authors and texts from Portuguese literature included in the Portuguese program for secondary education.

In addition to the recital “From Camões à Atualidade”, the João de Deus House-Museum, responsible for the initiative, also promotes, during the month of May, the activity “João de Deus point by point, aimed at the senior public”, all Tuesdays, at 15:00 pm, and “João de Deus Poeta'Educador” – various workshops in the scope of illustration, creative writing and visual arts, aimed at children and young people, every Wednesday at 15:00 pm.

Every Thursday, at 15:00 pm, the initiative “1 book 1000 readings – public reading sessions” takes place with the presentation of the works “O Bojador”, by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, and “The old man who read love novels ”, by Luís Sepúlveda.

Familiarizing young people with the works proposed by the Reading Plan, providing them with proximity to the text and the authors, are the objectives of this activity aimed at children and young people.

Paulo Moreira is an actor, director and writer. He works regularly with ACTA (The Algarve Theater Company). It is referred to as one of the «cases of singular personalities that are part of the theatrical identity in the Algarve» in the work “Meio century of theater in the Algarve”, by Ana Cristina Oliveira.
