The 2017 accounting report of the City of São Brás de Alportel was approved by the Municipal Assembly on the 27th of April. The Municipality guaranteed the transition of a balance of around 1,8 million euros to 2018, which, according to the municipality, "attests to the effective exercise of budget execution".
The City Council of São Brás also emphasizes that the amount carried over to the following year is «greater than previous years» and is «a reflection of a rigorous management of resources».
For Vítor Guerreiro, mayor, this “is the result of a very rigorous and demanding work shared by the executive, technicians and the entire municipal team, which spares no effort to profit opportunities and multiply resources”.
The 2017 Accountability Report was approved: by majority, with the abstention of councilor Bruno Costa, elected by the coalition “São Brás Primeiro”, at the chamber meeting held on 3 April.
In the Municipal Assembly, it was also approved by a majority, with votes in favor of the PS bench, abstention by the PSD and CDU benches and with the vote against by the CDS element.
In 2017, the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel had a budget of close to 13,8 million euros which allowed, according to the Chamber, "structuring investments in various areas".
The municipality emphasizes education, «with important interventions in the maintenance of the School Park, such as the refurbishment of the kitchen at Escola EB 2,3», environmental quality, «with the completion of a global project for the placement of buried ecopoints, expansion of oil mills and acquisition of various equipment to reinforce urban cleaning” and the expansion and conservation works of the sanitation and water supply networks in various parts of the municipality.
In the "priority" area of Civil Protection, in 2017, the São Brasense municipality highlights the achievement of "important investments, including the acquisition of a vehicle for the Sapadores Florestais Team, and a set of equipment for the Municipal Service of Civil Protection, as well as the 1st phase of the implementation of the Training Ground for Firefighters, and the fire prevention action program that included the renewal of the protocol with the Portuguese Army, the carrying out of various works in the area of preventive forestry and in the improvement of accesses».
The municipality also recalls that 2017 was «the year of completion of a new phase of the Sports and Leisure Park, which now includes the Campos de Petanca Complex, the installation of the artistic replica of the “Santa Cruz” hydroplane, and important investments in the level of urban renewal, such as the Parque das Amendoeiras and the Requalification of Largo de S. Sebastião, 1st phase of a project that continues, with the requalification of Rua Gago Coutinho, currently underway, and later with the Requalification of Av. da Liberdade, as part of the Urban Regeneration Action Plan».
The investment in the development of the historic center «also counted in 2017, with investments in other structuring projects such as the creation of the Espaço Memória, which will be inaugurated on the 1st of June», concludes the Chamber.
