The 2nd edition of the «365 Algarve» program comes to an end this month of May, with performances in theatre, music, visual arts, gastronomy, cinema and original visits to the region's heritage.

No ,, the month of begins with “Liberation”, a journey through the traumatic years of the colonial war by the Hotel Europa Company, which presents itself on the 4th, at 21 pm, at the Cine-Teatro Louletano.

From the 19th to the 22nd of May, at 20 pm, in the Antiga Serração de Monchique, theater and gastronomy intersect in the play «Cantina», an experience of Companhia Laika, based on the iconic text by Brecht “Santa Joana dos Slaughterhouses”, that urges us to raise our arms and defend a common ideal, to leave our own skin and discover affinities with others.

Finally, as part of the Lavrar o Mar project, between May 31 and June 1, at 21 pm, also in the Antiga Serração de Monchique, the show «Clowns», in which three artists – Enano, Leo Lobo and Thorsten Grüjten (Mixed Toast) – reflect on the meaning of being Clown.

As regards music, and as part of the 33rd FIMA, "O Pop eo Erudito" will be presented, a concert of classical sounds juxtaposed by sounds like Rock or Jazz, which will be at the Lagos Cultural Center on the 4th, at 21 pm, with cellist Paulo Jay Lima.

In the Municipal Auditorium of Albufeira, on May 10th, at 21 pm, it will be possible to watch the «Schubertíada», a concert that aims to revisit the Viennese musical soirees where Schubert gathered his friends and made known his most recent works.

On the following day, May 11, with the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, it will be the turn of «Mendelssohn!», at 21 pm, at the Cineteatro Louletano, and directed by the German conductor Ernest Schelle.

On the 12th, the show «Underground Wine Melodies» intends to combine Music with Wines – one of the pillars of the projection of Portugal's name abroad. This event starts at 20:00 at the Hotel Conrad Algarve, in Quinta do Lago.

The program Jazz nas Adegas presents the «PLINT» project, which results from the joining of three musicians with different migration experiences, the pianist Pablo Lapidusas (Argentina, Brazil), the drummer Marcelo Araújo (Brazil, Portugal) and the bassist Leo Espinosa ( Cuba, Spain). The performance is scheduled for the 12th, at 21 pm, at Quinta do Barranco Longo, Algoz.

O 33rd FIMA continues, on the 18th, with the «History of the Soldier», with the narration of Diogo Infante and the direction of conductor Rui Pinheiro. This marriage between narration and music will take place at 21 pm, at the Grande Auditório de Gambelas, in Faro.

Travels have always been a source of inspiration for artists and «Recordações de Viagens» is an example of this, with exhibition on May 19, at 21 pm, at Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório, in Silves.

This is a project that travels through works such as «Mountain Scenes» by the Portuguese Viana da Mota, «Night on the roads of Madrid» by the Italian Bocherinni and «Souvenir de Florence» by the Russian Tchaikovsky.

On the 24th of May, at 21 pm, at the Teatro Municipal de Faro, takes to the stage the orchestral suite «As Mil e Uma Noites», one of the most fantastic works of the orchestral repertoire – Sheherazade, which tells the story of the Sultana with the same name, who saved her life thanks to the stories with which she was entertaining the her husband, Sultan Schariar. This concert will have the Italian Francesca Dego as a soloist.

On the 19th, at 21 pm, at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão, and Integrated Festival Entre Mares, Oum (Moroccan singer and songwriter) presents Zarabi, her most recent work that results from the fusion of various musical styles such as Jazz, Gnawa and Hassanya.

At the Centro Cultural de Lagos, the Algarve Jazz Orchestra invites Silje Nergaard & Rick Margitza, on May 25th at 21 pm, in a unique concert performed by two world jazz references.

On the 26th, at 21 pm, the Quinteto Flamenco Jazz Company will play, in which some of the best Spanish jazz musicians gather around a project where Jazz and Flamenco sounds are mixed.

On the same day, at 19:30 pm, at Monte Clérigo, performed by the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio, CREDO plays. This is another show integrated in the schedule of «Lavrar o Mar».

Sarah Mackenzie's performance at the Centro Cultural de Lagos closes the musical experiences of this 2nd Edition of the «365 Algarve» Program. At 21 pm, on the 30th of May, the latest Jazz Mundial star will make her absolute debut in the Algarve, at the closing of the Algarve Jazz Gourmet Moments, in Lagos.

But the last month of 365Algarve 2018 also has dance. Accompanied with live music, "One Step Before The Fall", by Spitefire Company (Czech Republic) addresses a type of segregation, which is as silent as it is violent and uncontrollable. The show will be screened at Teatro das Figuras, on May 5th, at 21 pm.

In Portimão, at Teatro Municipal, it will be possible to watch the experimental play «Kismet» (Turkey), which addresses the law of cause and effect, but also the set of events that create infinite possibilities and open space for unexpected results, often called as Karma, fate, fate or Kismet (Eastern beliefs).

On the 18th of May, at CAPa – Center for Performing Arts of the Algarve, in Faro, and on May 19 at the Centro Cultural de Lagos, «Cie Sun of Shade» (France), Vincent Mantsóe (South Africa/France) and Roni Chadash (Israel) present, at 21 pm, in four distinct moments, “Slave”, “Gula Bird”, “Ani-Ma”, “Goofy”.

The dance performances continue with the exhibition of «Sem Retorno», by the Dancenema Company, on the 23rd, at 21 pm, at the Municipal Theater of Portimão, once again as part of the Entre Mares Festival. This performance, submerged in a climate of great political tension and social unrest, is a reflection on the state of mind, personality and introspection.

On May 25, at 21 pm, at the Cine-Teatro Louletano, Marco da Silva Ferreira shows his creation “Brother”, where seven performers establish a relationship of complementarity, through constant mimicry that generates movement, behavior and patterns.

The last dance moment of this month is «Dois Séculos», by Quorum Ballet, on 26th May, at 21 pm, at Teatro Municipal de Portimão, where it will be possible to learn a little about the life of Manuel Teixeira Gomes, through the languages ​​of dance, theater, poetry, music and plastic arts and multimedia techniques.

But the «365 Algarve» program does not neglect the new circus, which marked some of the most beautiful moments of this second edition, and on the 4th and 5th of May, too integrated in the Festival Entre Mares, “Halka” will be presented by the Groupe Acrobatique de Tanger (Morocco).

This group of 14 acrobats and musicians, builds a dynamic acrobatics to the rhythm of drums, tar, banjo and ribab, mixing poetry, humor and melancholy, in a show that pays homage to the ancestral Moroccan art of acrobatics.

As visual arts have also been very present. Until the 5th of May, from Tuesday to Saturday, from 13:00 pm to 19:30 pm, you can visit the Foyer of Teatro das Figuras in Faro, the exhibition «Refuge of Segregation».

Integrated in the 4th edition of the festival “Encontros do DeVIR”, Elisabete Maisão shows, in a photographic way, the difficulties faced by those who are forced to distance themselves from their roots, and who, despite the circumstances, there is no lack of positive stories to share .

The artist has yet another exhibition, until May 19, at Galeria Praça do Mar in Quarteira, where she presents "Paris, Hoje", an exhibition that results from the collection of images that denounce the way refugees from Syria, Eritrea live today. , Afghanistan, Pakistan and other countries.

Na gastronomy, the highlight goes to the Cataplay, which continues through the month of May. The piece, which shows how the traditions inherited from the various civilizations that lived in the Algarve are passed down from generation to generation, turns the culinary experience into a true spectacle in a 60-minute session, on May 13th, at 18 pm, at Tertúlia Algarvia.

From the 25th to the 27th of May, at the Centro Multiusos do Azinhal, in Castro Marim, the Festival Terra de Maio takes place, which showcases the most genuine Algarve flavors, along with a huge diversity of local crafts, exhibitions and lots of entertainment.

As to movies, the 365Algarve will also have a blast clasp. O Lucem Video project closes with another very special cine-concert: the screening of the film «Os FaroLeiros”, by Maurice Mariaud (Portugal, 1922), will join the live music of Dead Combo, with Moçoilas in the opening.

This farewell to Video Lucem will be on Farol of Vila Real de Santo António, in what is expected to be a very special moment, of farewell to this project and this second edition of 365 Algarve.

O patrimony is also present, with the continuity of Ecofest. With the support of the Municipality of Olhão and the PNRF – Ria Formosa Natural Park, the aim is to strengthen the connection between musical entertainment and contact with the natural and cultural heritage, where people can learn, know, appreciate and even contribute for its preservation and enhancement. The event takes place from the 4th to the 6th of May, from 10 am to 00 pm, in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, in Marim.

Integrated in the program "Fantastic Moments with Heritage", the ethnographic project "Marítimo Commitment" has another session on May 19, at Chão Queimado – Statue of São Gonçalo de Lagos, and proposes a guided journey through ethnography, history , gastronomy and cultural and artistic manifestations of the city of Lagos.

At Monte dos Amantes, in Vila do Bispo, on the 26th, at 15 pm, theatrical exercises will take place “Sítios com História”, moments in which a Traveler seeks to reveal the secrets of the megalithic stones, inviting the public to participate in the assembly that debates the your interpretation.

The visit to the historic past of the city of Faro could not miss and the «Faro unraveled» will close with a golden key and two more presentations on the 25th and 30th of May, at 18:30 pm, showing how it is possible to “travel” to the origins and cultural diversity that was at the basis of the formation of the city of Faro and the Algarve.
